THE TWELVE-season 3,episode 18

RWANDA

Thoughtfully the group reached the camp being led by Musing, the place was very quiet and peaceful and all the children were inside. Musing confidently led them into the camp hall where the children were kept, entering the hall the group saw them children sitting on the floor and in wait for the buyers to come and take them. They only recognized Musing and some recognized Shorsha, he whispered to the children in the dialect that the group had come to help them and the children were happy even if they didn’t know how the help will come.

“Do they understand English?” Ken whispered to Shorsha.

“Yes most of them,” She replied not whispering.

“Ok…..” Ken went close to them. “Hello friends,” he smiled at them but they didn’t smile back, their glance at him made him feel uncomfortable but he kept his countenance up.  “We are here to help you,”

“It’s too late,” one said. “The buyers will be here soon.”

“Why do they want to sell you? What did you do to them?”  Zodiac asked.

“Nothing, we are just poor orphans and have no place to go,” the response came.

“Do you like where they are taking you?”  Christy asked.

“We don’t know they will bring us,”

“We will go anywhere we can survive,”

“They will never treat us right,” Musing said. “They will use us for money,”

“We are forced to go, we don’t have choice again……..”

“This is more serious,” Nick said shaking his head.

“You will not be going anywhere with the buyers,” Ken said. “We are stopping them now.”

Few minutes later the man responsible for the trafficking walked into the hall and found all the children standing but he didn’t see Ken and his group.

“What is going on here?” He asked them. “Why are you all standing up? Your new owners will soon come to take you.”

“There will be no child trafficking here today,” Zodiac stepped forward.

“You,” He recognized her.

“Yes me,”

“And me too,” Ken stepped forward and the others followed him.

“What are you guys…………” he broke off. “You kids doing here?”

“So you sell children?” Laura asked looking disgust at him.

“You know that’s against the law and we are going to sue you for that,” Ken told him.

“You don’t have any right to interfere in my business. No rights at all,” he yelled.

“Your business,” Declan shook his head. “You call selling people’s children your business?”

“Why don’t you go sell your own children,” Zodiac said. “Let’s see how rich that makes you.”

“Awful Mr.” Nick looked at him. “Don’t you know a child’s life is too precious to be bought, worst with money, a decorated piece of paper?”

“I need the money to get out of this god forsaken village. I need to start a new life somewhere and this transaction will complete my budget so you have to step out of my way and let me do this one.”

“No way,” Ken said. “If you don’t get out of here, return the money you’ve collected and let this children be, I promise you by this same time tomorrow you will be in prison.”

The man knew the threat was real, they were the twelve and just a phone call from them to US embassy troops will come flooding in Rwanda to fish him out and that will be the end of his life.

In that pressure he went into a small room which looked like his office.

“Please don’t let him take us,” Musing begged them. “We will serve you anyhow you want but please don’t let him sell us.”

Ken looked at Zodiac, they felt a surge of responsibility towards the children. The man walked out with a case in his hand.

“Your new keeper is coming to take you,” He told the children, and then he turned to Ken. “As for you take your partners and go back to your life as superstars because if you chose to stay here, they will kill you.”

“Please,” Ken looked at him. “Return the money and let the children be,”

“And then what becomes of me? Will I remain here? God forbid. I’m letting you have this camp if you decide to stay but as for me I’m leaving this country.”

“Okay, if you return the money right, I’ll give you something.” Ken opened his bag and brought out his ticket fair home. “Take this, show it to the embassy and they will let you into the plane. They respect that name twelve,”

The keeper slowly took the ticket. “How will you……”

“Until all these children are save, we are not going anywhere and when the time comes for us to leave we will find our way home.”

They were all very surprised that Ken sacrificed his ticket for the liberation of the children. So well, the keeper dropped the case, nodded and left. The children jumped in happiness and embraced the group thanking them for their courage had set them free.

ZIMBABWE

The group visited Edna’s place as usual but this time their welcome was different. Edna was sitting outside crying, it was surprising to the group seeing her like that because her tears was not that of a person who mourned for the death. They rushed to and held her trying to find the words that will bring out an answer to why she was crying.

“Edna calm down and talk to us,” Larry said. “Why are you crying?”

“For so long I’ve never had anyone to talk to.” She tearfully said. “When you guys came I knew I was living again because I could express my thoughts and even smile again, but now I don’t think that will be possible.”

“Possible,” Paco was confused. “How,”

“Why did you talk back at those boys?” she cried. “Now I betrayed you in telling them all you’ve been doing for the orphans. I had to do it in exchange for the safety of those poor orphans.”

“You didn’t betray us Edna,” Shania said. “You saved their lives and that’s perfect.”

“And we are not afraid of those boys either,” Miguel said.

“You are foreigners and they can destroy you and nobody will charge them for it.”

“They are not capable of doing anything.” Larry said. “They are just being scared that’s all.”

As they were talking the boys walked into the yard, Edna became afraid. She stood up. “Danny I can explain this,” She told them.

“There’s nothing to explain Edna,” he shouted. “You have broken our agreement.”

“Agreement,” Ruby looked at her. “What agreement?”

“I never have to allow you see the children again,”

“What!” Shania exclaimed. “You very well know that we came here because of them……………..”

“They are none of your business,” Danny said to her. “We don’t want you foreigners coming here to pity us…………….it damns our pride.”

“What kind of pride do you have?” Larry asked him. “What are you being proud of Danny, that you are street child limited to the drugs and alcohol you use to feel your system and cloud your judgment? You have destroyed yourself love and that’s why you can’t love anybody else around you. Why did you allow them fool you all like this? I was once a street child too you know but because I loved myself and my fellow mates like you, I reached for the stars, found the way so I can bring others like you along. All we need you to do is come along with us, drop your hostile attitude and come along with us.”

“I don’t know what you are talking about and I don’t care to know,” he quickly said. The other boys behind him found some truth in what Larry said and believed.

“What exactly do you want Danny?” Soledad asked. “Why are you being so hostile to yourself and to your brothers and sisters?”

“I will be back for you Edna, soon!” he said.

“If you destroy the life of another child,” Shania said. “Their unrealized dreams will melt your conscience and fish you out of your arrogance.” She turned to Edna. “Let him do his worse, they always say if you don’t fear a wizard he will back down and run away from your courage, let him do his worse and he will find himself being tried in the supreme court of law,”

Danny felt defeated, speechless and unable to walk.

Shania looked at him. “Do your worse,”

“Let’s go inside Edna,” Larry said and they all went inside.

Danny stood for while and then walked away with his boys. While they were walking one of his boys persistently asked him. “Why did you sit quiet? Why didn’t you speak up Danny?”

“I had spoken enough wills,” He replied.

“That’s lie; you kept quiet because you noticed those people did not fear you,”

“Shut up wills!” he yelled.

“What do you know about life? What, those rich kids have enjoyed all the benefits of life, they have everything they need, what do we have, nothing.”

“Didn’t you hear what the guy said, he has been a street boy like us but he rich for the stars and he wants to bring us along. I want to go with them. I want to be like them.” Wills insisted. “Boys this is not a life we all dream of keeping as for me I’m off.” And he left.

Danny’s conscience was piercing his heart but his mind was keeping him tough. He continued on his way and the others followed him not knowing where they truly wanted to be.

Back in the city, Randy hadn’t sold his company like he made Duncan believe he would. The Rolex centre was not the same, all the workers had resigned and only Randy was left. He sat in idling in his office then he saw a lady walk in. she was browned skin and at her mid late twenties, her name was Lisa Vernon.

“Good afternoon Mr. Randy Rolex,” she greeted and smiled. She was beautiful and properly dressed.

“Good afternoon,” Randy wondered how she got in then he remembered he had no protocols. “What can I do for you?” he asked looking brightly at her.

“I came to apply for a job,” she said.

Randy smiled, and then he laughed. “A job, who told you I was hiring?”

“I’ve been watching this building for quite some time now,”

“Quite some time, be more specific.”

“Since you left prison,”

Randy suddenly became interested. “How do you know I was in prison?”

“That’s a very sensitive thing to talk about, won’t you offer me a sit,”

He offered her with a hand show and she sat.

“I know that you had a fuse with the twelve and their manager, that’s the reason why they sent you to prison.”

“And that’s why everybody deserted me,” He added.

“I am also jobless, did a terrible thing and I got fired. Nobody wants to hire me.”

“What terrible thing did you do?” he leaned forward.

“I stole from my company, hacked into their finance system and pulled out a lot of money.”

Randy laughed. “Smart girl, what did you do with the money?”

“Would have bought myself a new house, and a new car, slam the door of that company and open my own,”

Randy nodded.

“If I wasn’t caught,” she smiled.

“Did you go to prison?”

“Yes, seven years, all my accounts cleared, I returned the money with interest.”

“Hmm so what kind of job do you want?” he asked.

“Anything you want me to do for you as long as I get paid for doing it.”

“Quick interview, do you love the twelve? Have you ever loved the spice?”

“I’m not a fan, I don’t care about superstars, and they just place me on the edge.”

“Ok you will have to prove that you don’t love the twelve,”

“Why do I have to prove it?” she asked.

“Because you might just be saying those words just to get me to give you the job.”

“Ok what do I have to do, kill one of them?”

He laughed. “No that’s too much. You are going to device a means to ruin their good name and their reputation…… something that will cause the world to doubt their every move and question their story.”

“What’s in it for you?” she asked.

“You will find out but I will pay you in four figures if you do this properly with no one being able to trace its source.”

She smiled. “Sweet, I like it. I will do it.”

Randy nodded. “Welcome to the company then,”

And Lisa nodded.

After Jakes had disappeared from his old fashioned life handed to him by his father. He decided to take a new life in Canada where all things could become new. He sat in one of the local restaurants along the run way streets reading the Tuesday newspaper log. He was mostly surprised when he saw the twelve as a general topic often discussed at the press. He read it through again aloud to himself saying that the readers may be forgiven if they forget to do certain basic things such as talking to neighbors when they start reading about the new events of the twelve. He was startled and almost forgot to breathe. “Wow”, he said and shook his head. Then a black lady from the balcony walked up to him.

“Hello sir. Is there anything I can do to put you off your mood?”

Jakes looked at her. “EH…”. He murmured. “It’s nothing. Don’t worry.”

She sat by him, took the newspaper from his hand and read the contents of the news paper then looked at Jakes and smiled. “Everybody knows about this Mr. The twelve will have more fans and trouble when they return.”

“Those are my kids,” he said.

“Your kids, you’re not married, are you?”

“Nope,” he smiled. “My kids,I owned the company they worked in”

The lady looked at him. “You are Jakes Raves?”

“I am”

“Oh my God”, she laughed.”I didn’t know.”

“Why? Don’t I look like someone who can manage the twelve?”

“For the appearance you don’t, but for the practicality, you do look like someone fit to manage the twelve. I’m happy to meet you Mr. Jakes Raves. My name is Sally Cooke with an e at the end.”

Jakes laughed. “I’ve got it. Nice meeting you Sallie.”

“Your statement refers to the past…”

“Yeah, yeah”, he swiftly interrupted “I no longer manage the twelve. I shot down my company recently because I saw that my practicality had no meaning there anymore.”

“Why? Is it because the twelve was the only one behind the success of the company?”

“I’ve decided never to lie to anyone anymore. The twelve was behind the success of the company but when they decided to take a new step I had to take another. That’s practicality in another phase of life.”

“Mr. Jakes Raves, don’t you think the twelve won’t like the idea of you shutting down your own company and the other managers too?”

“I handled that already. I just want to start a new life Sallie, somewhere away from my past.”

Sallie looked at him thoughtfully. “Well, about this paper, are you still interested in the twelve?”

“The twelve is the reason why I’m here. They are a part of my past, present and future. I’ll make sure they are alright whenever and wherever and I hope their lawyer sees this.”

“Mr. Lennon?” She asked

“You know Mr. Lennon?” Jakes was amazed.

“We are lawyers.”

“You’re a lawyer?”

“Yeah, I schooled with Mr. Lennon. I used to know everything there is to know about him, how he sold the talents and everything. But since he left law school I’ve not set eyes on him again.”

“Serious. He’s back with the twelve. He’s very good, very good.”

“And the twelve like him very much too.”

“Yes. The twelve will arrive safely because they have so many people to clear the way for them.”

“And I will love to be part.”

“Well, you can be if you earn our trust and convince us that you are capable.”

“So you don’t trust me.”

“I can trust you but what about the others?”

She smiled. “We’ll talk about that later. It’s time for me to go.” She stood up.

“Nice meeting you Sallie.” Jakes stood and gave her a handshake. “I’ll find you someday.”

“I’ll be waiting Jakes Rave. See you.” And she walked away. Jakes sat down and went back to the newspaper.

“We’ve been here for over four hours.” Benedict said pointing to the door,”  they were all present at Leon’s house, doing nothing just talking shouting and cursing. We should forget about Jakes and move on.

“We should not forget about Jakes,” Leon shouted at Benedict. “We shouldn’t because he owes us so many things inexpressible.”

“What apologies? He gave them a long time ago.”

“There is no way we can get Jakes back.” Harrison said. “No way,”

“No, no way we can take Jakes back, but if we find a way to let the twelve know, they can pursue him back.”

“The twelve,” Harrison’s delight was cancelled with a grim face. “We are not getting the twelve into this. They already have much in their hands Leon. We can’t bother them with this.”

“With this,” Leon was tensed. “This is our career going down and I think it’s time for the twelve to return the favor.”

“Return the favor?” Benedict shook his head. “I won’t be a part of this Leon, even if I’m mad at Jakes as hell I still have to start somewhere else.”

“Where are your credentials?” He asked the both of them. “Do you have one?”

“We’ll work that out” Harrison said as he relaxed on the chair.

THE TWELVE-season 3,episode 16

SUDAN

The group in Sudan had nothing doing that day, they were all very bored as they sat in the parlor watching the Sudanese news television trying to get any information that could be of use to their mission there in Sudan  then Cindy remembered she hadn’t told Maxwell of Lindsay’s call.

“Guess what happened on Saturday,” She said.

“What happened?”

“Nothing happened on Saturday that I don’t know of,” Maxwell said.

“Oh really now,” She looked at Maxwell. “Did you know Lindsay called?”

“What,” They were surprised and happy.

“Where, how, when?” Maxwell asked confused by the joy he was feeling because of the news.

“I thought you knew,” Cindy told him.

“No I didn’t,”

Cindy nodded. “Well she did call and we talked.”

“How are they?”

“Ok, they arrived well, lives in good a place and Liberia is just as tough as Sudan but they are pulling through just like we are.”

“Where was Ben when she called?” Maxwell asked.

“Probably doing the same thing you were doing when she called,” Cindy replied.

“Exactly,” Britney concluded and they all chuckled.

In that mood Jimmy came barging in on them breathing heavily from the miles he had run to get to them. It scared the group.

“Jimmy,” Maxwell stood up. “What’s going on?”

“Yah why are you running so fast, did anything bad happen?”

“No,” He was catching his breath. “I came to tell you that the food supplies just came in,”

“Food supplies,” Cindy stood. “Where and who brought them?”

“Some people, they are called save the child,”

“Save the child,” Maxwell repeated to himself.

“They usually do this,” Jimmy was breathing properly now. “ They are the pack off loading the truck of food stuffs they brought and parents and children have all rushed there to collect,”

“I’ve heard of that organization,” Maxwell said.

“I think we should meet this people,” David said. “Let’s go now,”

They all doubted if they should go or not.

“This opportunity might come again but this is our only chance to meet this people, we might need their partnership.”

“Are you sure about this David?" Maxwell asked.

“I think David is right, save the child is doing a part of what we are trying to achieve, that which we can’t do right now. Why don’t we just let them know what we are up to, they might help.”

“Max,” Cindy looked at him, he was in thoughts.

“Yeah let’s give it a try,” he said.

“Jimmy, can you take us there?” David asked.

“It’s a little far from here,” he said.

“Get the key of the jip Britney,” Cindy said. “We are going to use that car offered to us for transportation,”

Britney got the keys and they rushed out to the old jip packed behind the house. They all got in and some people sat at the open back boat. Cindy was to drive.

“Are you sure you can drive this old car?” Maxwell asked her.

“A car is a car, old or new.” She started the engine and drove off with jimmy leading the way and the car couldn’t stop shaking they felt like they car was going to fall apart but Cindy was doing a great job riding it.

SIERRA LEONE

“You know,” Marshal said. “We won’t be able to avoid preaching about the kingdom,”

They had come to mosque an hour earlier before their meeting with the children. They were opportune to stroll around the mosque more peacefully and looked through some of their books at the library.

“Looking through these historical books,” Maul said. “Proves that all this religion was meant to admonish one another, now I begin to wonder why people’s health and wellbeing have to be determined by how well they serve Mohammed,”

“It doesn’t even come by choice,” Wendy added. “It is a tradition and if we are deprived of preaching the kingdom here, we will do it when we get to the camp.”

“What are you kids doing here?” they were shaking by a heavy voice from behind. They all turned and saw the man. His face was half covered and they were scared.

“You weren’t asked to parade the mosque were you? It is against our law for strangers, worst of all kids to feel free in here,”

“Hmm,” Kevin swallowed. “We are sorry; we were just trying to……”

“Trying to exploit Mohammed’s history right?” he approached them. He was very tall and huge in their sight.

“No, not that,” Zed said. “We were just looking through the books.”

“Now I know why Omar doesn’t trust you people,” He said and the children looked at him, surprised.

“Listen to me kids, your only mission here is to teach these children all what is needed of them to make Sierra Leone proud and that mission ends in the hall out of this mosque. My name is Dar and I will watch you closely.”

“Mr. Dar…..” Zed said.

“Are you insane,” He was brutally interrupted. “Address me as Alahadji Dar,”

“Oh sorry, Alahadji Dar,”

“Good,”

“The person we met didn’t mention what you really want us to do with the children.”

“Maybe he didn’t explain very well to you fearing the fact you might not understand, but I will take my chances. The elders of this mosque have it in knowledge that you are part of the famous inspiring group, the twelve. Am I correct?”

They nodded.

He went on. “We all know your story and how you became twelve, very touching. We want you to tell the children what it took you to get to this level, share them your experiences and all that you know, make them become like you and after that you walk away…… you have just one year to make that happen.”

The children were shunned by the surprise of what they heard.

“You mean…..” Nora tried to speak.

“I mean,” He interrupted again. “You will make Sierra Leone proud of its children, completely wipe of this country from the list of countries being affected by the children’s crisis and when you are done you can go back to your lives. We will pay you if you want.”

“That is completely different from why we are here,” Maul said.

“The reason why you are here has just been defined to you, we will organize the children tomorrow from street children to orphans so go home and gather your materials, prepare yourselves.” He started off. “Don’t parade the mosque or else the wrath of Mohammed will descend on you and make you forget to way back into stardom.” He left.

“This is unbelievable,” Zed said. “God, how do we deal with this one?”

“One year?” Marshall shook his head.

“We can’t stay here for a whole year; we will have to battle when the time comes.” Maul said. “Let’s go, we need to plan. We never prayed for this and so we have to be very sensitive, we will start with their mission and end with ours. These five months is all we have left.”

“Yeah,” they all agreed and hurried out of the mosque.

SUDAN

When Maxwell and his group reached the park where the food stuffs were being shared, the crowd that was there with bowls and bags to carry their own share of the food was enormous. Jimmy had rushed over to get his while they stayed back and watched the hungry crowd scramble for a bowl of rice and salt, few cubes of magi and tin of oil. This went on for some time and the sharing was soon over. One of them in charge spotted them, they were different, and not carrying bowls and neither looked like they needed whatever they were sharing. He approached them with a very wild gaze.

“Who sent you here?” he asked recognizing the fact that they were part of the twelve. “This is no place for people like you,”

His manner of approach was scary.

“If you feel anything for these ones you should’ve just sit back and send your support just like others did. Go home; go back to your stardom because you don’t belong here.”

“You’ve not asked us what brought us here,” Maxwell said.

“I don’t care about what brought you here,” he said. “Go back home,”

“Oh yeah,” Cindy said. “We don’t plan on spending the night here but we are not leaving until you listen to us,”

“What are you going to say that I don’t know?” He looked at Maxwell and Cindy. “Do you think you can change this, what will you do? Build an empire for them?  Don’t even think about it unless you want to die early.”

“Did you miss out on the story of the street boys who believed in their dreams and worked hard, met opportunity and their dreams became a reality?” Daniel said. “That’s a summary of how the twelve came about. This group I’m sure you love so much.”

“Yes I know that story, but it doesn’t work all the time. You were lucky and I’m glad your cases turned out different. I love you the twelve and that’s why I’m advising you to go back to where you came from, go back to your career, go back to making young people see themselves in Disney world when they are not actually there.”

“What actually caused the children’s crisis?” Cindy ignored what he said. “Do you think it’s because years ago they had food shortage……….”

“I won’t listen to you,” he started off and they followed him.

“Please wait,” David touched him and he stopped. “Listen to us please,”

He turned to them. “Can you go a day without food?” he asked.

“Neither can they stop depending entirely on man without knowledge,” Maxwell told him.

“We believe that this crisis can be averted and we need people like you to help us out,” David said. “We have a dream to someday see all of these children become what they were created to be, get to know the hidden potentials they have, using it to bless themselves and others. Living in a world where they love themselves and are being loved in return, where freedom, hope, patience and courage will be the backbone of their expansion. This world can exist in a child’s life; they are bigger than the rice and the salt you are giving to them. Food is important we know but we are looking for that future where food will no longer be their greatest need.”

He looked at David without batting an eyelash and then he said. “I can’t help you,” He walked away.

Wendell held David on his shoulder. “That was good David, very good.”

David breathed away and wished he never said a word.

“Don’t get discouraged Dave,” Winnie said. “Not everybody will believe in our dream.”

“Even him?” he asked looking at the direction he took.

“He is not significant,” Cindy said. “Worse situations will come, expect them.”

“It’s ok David, they are not leaving just yet and we won’t stop persuading him till he believes. Let’s go,”

“What about Jimmy?” Britney asked.

“I don’t know where he is and we can’t find him. I guess he will find his way, let’s go.”

They followed Maxwell into the jip and Cindy drove off.

THE TWELVE-season 3,episode 15

KENYA

The group in Kenya were getting themselves ready that Monday morning to start their nursing work at the clinic, they were not going to administer drugs but they were going to give their own kind of care which they believed was needed most by the sick children. As they were putting in their stuffs together for the work, packing in their backs supplements and vitamins which were good for children, they also carried some of the bottled water they brought. Shelly thought it will be best to tell them of her call to Shania before they went to the clinic.

“Sorry guys I almost forgot to tell you,” Shelly said.

“Tell us what?” Michael asked.

“I spoke to Shania,”

“What,” They were surprised and happy about the news.

“You did, when?” Michael asked.

“Two days ago,” She scratched her neck.

“Two days ago Shelly and you are just telling us?” Michael shook his head. She expected him to react that way.

“That’s why I said sorry from the beginning, I had it planned to tell you but all the shopping we did for the clinic kept interrupting.”

“How are they?” Tyler asked.

“They are awesome; she said they are all doing well though the whole thing is tough.”

“Oh wow,” Michael forgot about what Shelly had done. “I guess it’s everywhere.

“She said food is bad and the street children are starving to dead. For her she wishes they will just dispatch the children right away to the camp.”

They all smiled.

“That’s not very possible right now,” Michael said.

“It’s a good thing they have something to build on just like we do,”

“Ok…….” Michael nodded. “With this I believe the others are doing great as well,”

“Yeah but we won’t stop trying, we even need to speak to Moscow to find out how things are going with the building of the camp and you guys need to talk to your family,”

“Yeah, we will just keep trying.”

They left to start their work at the clinic. When they got to the clinic, the children were still on their beds. Some were sitting up and some were lying. The nurses were doing their morning checkups as the group walked in and greeted all of the children from bed to bed with friendly and loving smiles. The children all understood English even if they couldn’t speak it well. They asked them of how they were doing and their response was positive accompanied with smiles from most of them. Shelly showed the supplements to nurses and asked if it was ok to give them after their breakfast and the nurses granted them permission seeing the supplements and vitamins were ok for the kids. As the head doctor had ordered, the group was to be responsible for feeding the kids and taking care of them on a daily basis and all the nurses had to do was administer their drugs and check on their vitals. The group fed the children with a healthy breakfast put in place by them; they made sure every child ate to satisfaction and with the help of the nurses the room was reorganized. New bed spreads replaced the old ones, new clothes were bought for the kids who had a change after their bath, a TV set was equally put in place with all kinds of interesting channels installed, and the room was cleaned, perfumed and well scented. Few hours when the head doctor came in, he couldn’t believe his eyes for the things he saw took him aback. The nurses showed him of all the groceries that were bought by the group and stored in kitchen and some in the refrigerator, he was even more amazed when Hemi walked him into the big ward to find most of the children sited up and watching an interest program on the TV that was placed on the wall, the kids were smiling and having a good time with each member of the group sitting on the bed beside a child. The doctor rushed out before they could notice him and Hemi followed.

“Who do you say these kids are, and where did they come from? He asked her in the kitchen still shocked at the so many good stuffs they had bought for the kids.

“Don’t you know of the twelve?” Hemi asked.

“The twelve,”

“Yes that very famous group, they are a part of the twelve.”

“I don’t know anything about famous people but whatever their motives are for coming here I can tell it’s a good one. They changed everything, my clinic, looks like a luxurious one. My orphanage has improved……..” He smiled. “Peter has to see this,”

Hemi smiled. “Those kids are very lucky to have such people care for them this much. I am so surprised that within three days things have changed drastically. Did you see the kids; they were smiling, enjoying the program and having a great time.”

“I did, I did Hemi. Look at all this good stuffs, I should have a taste of the good life too…….. Make me a cup of cappuccino, fry me some pancakes. I need to call peter and…… and Evan right away.”

Hemi laughed. “I will bring it to your office,”

He left to his office with joy inexpressible.

SEIRRA LEONE

Maul was busy walking around the yard reading a book on how to fulfill purpose. She had no idea that her phone was going to ring and when she heard the phone ring, it startled her before she picked it.

“Hello,” She waited for a response which came after few seconds.

“Hello,” It was Moscow.

“Moscow,” Her eyes brightened.

“Maul…. How are you all doing?” He was at the construction side walking with Lennon. They were both delighted and relieve to have finally gotten to one of them.

“We are doing straight A’s Mr. Moscow,”

He smiled. “Happy to hear that, we’ve been worried sick about you all,”

“Tried calling didn’t you?”

“A million times over,”

“Same thing here but I spoke to Zodiac few days ago and she assured me they were doing great so I presume we all arrived safe so you’ve got nothing to worry about.”

“Right now I’m a little relieved, we are relieved.”

“How is new York and everybody? I missed you all so much.”

“New York misses you all baby, the world is missing you. I am presently in Botswana with Lennon, Ro and Jo.”

“Oh really, what’s going on there,”

“The camp is already in construction and girl you have to see it and how fast the work is going.”

Maul felt like screaming but she didn’t.

“This is the best news ever,”

“The camp will be done even before you get back,”

“This is amazing news. I will immediately text the others about it. Hope they will get my text.”

“That will be great. How is the place, how are you guys coping?”

“We are doing great Mr. Moscow, God is helping us.”

“And the food, and the water, do you need us to send you anything?”

“No not yet, we are still full…………..” the lines were breaking and finally it broke off and they couldn’t hear each other anymore.

“The lines broke off,” Moscow told Lennon.

“Probably network, too bad I couldn’t say hi,” He replied.

Moscow shook his head and they continued walking.

“Zed,” Maul shouted and Zed came rushing.

“What’s going on?” he asked as if something bad had happened to her.

“Guess what,” she smiled at him then Zed relaxed.

“What now Maul, I can’t guess,”

“Moscow just told me that our camp is under construction and the work is running fast,”

Zed laughed, he was ecstatic and their celebration brought the others outside.

“What’s going on?” they asked.

“I just got a call from Moscow and he said our camp is in construction and it will be done even before we get back,”

They all joined in the celebration.

“I have to text the others about this, I just pray it reaches them.” she said.

“Yeah, let’s go in and celebrate some more.”

“Don’t forget we have work to do today,” Zed reminded them as they all got into the house still celebrating.

ZIMBABWE

The group in Zimbabwe was spending much of their time at Edna’s place with the orphans and they all seemed to love their company. Their presence there brought new life to the kids and gave hope to Edna. While Edna was cleaning the children up and wearing them the new clothes they received from the group, the group sat outside reading books that could help them fulfill their mission.

“I and Soledad have been making some research on why some of this street children and orphans turn out the way they are.” Ruby said. “Great hostility has crowned their minds consciously or unconsciously and that is why they are mostly sick and some turn out to be very rebellious. The primary characteristics of people who are in this state, they turn out to be cynical, hostile and suspicious. This doesn’t mean they are paranoid or irrational, it is just because most of them are not given the chance to express themselves and that is why when they are asked to explain anything they feel it’s because they are being suspected to have done something horrible and they are to be punished for it.”

“Ruby,” Paco said. “What does this mean, you are confusing me.”

“Hmm,” The others agreed.

“This means,” Soledad explained. “Hostility has become the nature of the street child,”

“Some,” Larry pointed. “Not all of them.”

“Yeah sorry, some,” She corrected herself. “Some of them believe destiny was made by some wise folks who threw it at some particular people who don’t even deserve and so they conclude on the fact that life is not fair and no matter how hard you work, if you are not chosen by this folks you will never have a bright destiny.”

“They equally believe in what is a called a good mistake, doing something bad to earn something good.” Ruby added. “This is the self hostility they live with everyday and its draining health from them worst than starvation will ever do.”

“Good,” Larry nodded. “That’s just the way of a street child who has gone astray. So what is your solution, because tons of food won’t stop this?”

“Not at all,” Ruby said. “Even watering down the gospel won’t stop it. We need to face them with a challenge to chose between failure and success and their choice will determine the kind of change the truth will order in their lives,”

“Question,” Miguel said. “Not that I’m in doubt, I believe everything you have just said but how can we start bringing them to this understanding? They can hardly hear us; they don’t even care about what you have to say, they only care about what you hold in your hands and if there’s nothing don’t even talk,”

“They will hear us,” Shania said. “Whether they like it or not,”

Then they saw something, some group of boys approaching them. They were six of them and they all had sticks in their hands. From their looks they could tell they were one of those hostile street kids Ruby and Soledad just talked about. They thought of calling Edna but they felt they were not scared of them, they just wondered what they wanted in Edna’s place.

“So it is true?” The eldest in the boys said and studied them as they sat. From his stature, they could tell he was twenty and the others were below his age.

“Some rich kids came to visit our hood,”

“Hello,” Larry stood up. “My name is Larry and these are my friends,”

“My name is Danny and I am not your friend,” he was really hostile, his voice was harsh and husky, he sounded like a drug addict and the group could understand why. Edna heard the commotion from inside and decided to come out.

“What are you boys doing here?” She asked, she looked scared,

“Why are these foreigners hanging around your house Edna?” He was almost raising his voice.

“They are just visiting,” she replied and the others stood up.

“I am African,” Larry said. “We came to help you all”

“Help us?” Danny chuckled and the other boys smiled.

“I’m glad to know that you boys have enforced yourselves with power and education plus you are also talented…………..”

“Don’t mock us,” Another shouted. “W e are street children, poor orphans and we didn’t get any education, you hear that? We taught ourselves how to survive,”

Shania shivered, their presence had begun to scare her.

“He wasn’t mocking,” Soledad softly said with a smile. “He was just appreciating you boys. You all believe in yourselves and that’s a good thing, why don’t you use that power you have to change your situation and that of your fellow mates on the streets? Bring about a change that will make your parents proud of you wherever they are.”

“We don’t give a damn about our parents,” Danny said. “If you have come to exploit us with you white man sense, let me just warn you about your failure.”

“Danny,” Shania picked her courage and said. “There’s no such thing like a white man sense here, we are all young children striving to have a better life.”

“You have a better life so go away and allow us enjoy the little we have. Edna I’m warning you, you know what I’m capable of. Let’s go boys.”

And they left.

“Who is he?” Shania asked

“He is one of the bad boys in the street,” Edna replied.

“Why did he threaten you like that?” she asked again.

“Please don’t cross his path, they are very dangerous.” She beckoned and went back inside.

“This is exactly what we were talking about,” Ruby said.

“Yes Ruby and I’m beginning to enjoy this mission,” Larry said.

“Can you handle guys like that?” Shania asked and folded her arms looking at Larry.

“You can handle guys like that,” He told her. “It’s just like handling Jakes and his men,”

Shania smiled. “A more hostile Jakes I must admit.” Then she remembered her talk with Shelly.

“Oh I forgot to tell you guys,” She said.

“Forgot what,” Larry asked and they were all anxious to hear.

“Shelly and I talked, no kidding.”

“Shania you are joking right,” They were all surprised.

“No kidding, she said hi, they are doing ok and have something wonderful going on for them there at the camp they lodged. They missed you all, sorry I forgot.”

They all just stared at her shaking their heads and smiling. They loved the news.
